THE MYSTERY OF BOLI
First I need to define what 'boli' is for the sake of non-Nigerians because I believe all original Nigerians know that already. Infact any Nigerian who does not know boli should be flogged(the type with 3days pepper soaked cane).
Boli is a very popular Nigerian snack which is roasted ripe plantain. It can be eaten with groundnut or peppered sauce as your choice permits.
A lot of Nigerians would agree with me that Boli is a lifesaver since forever. Even my intestines are responding in joy at the mention of this snack.
Have you ever gone out and then caught up with the day's activity that you could not get a proper sit down for a decent meal? Boli is the way forward because one can never go wrong with it and guess what? It never goes out of season.
Apart from the fact that I am a die-hard plantain fan which means the way to my heart is by plantain,LOL the phenomenon of Boli can not be over rated.
There is a joy untold that just thinking of boli brings and trust me,no big girl or 'tush' (sophisticated) status attached to eating or not eating it.
It can not be found in all those account destroying top class restaurants but majorly in downtown streets which brings out even more beauty.
I remember a while ago when I had to go out with a female friend and we got to the point of severe hunger,it only came natural to us to hunt down a boli spot. We both breathed a sigh of relief when we finally got one and to my surprise, she began to speak phonetics and suddenly remembered one million and one health tips. You are also shocked right?I just shut down immediately and bought myself a very hot, fresh from the fire, demon chasing boli. Like I just could not care about her feelings at that time.
Boli is that meal that is capable of erupting prayers from the soul when someone buys for you. It can suddenly make you fall in love with your enemy and even view the future in 3D.
I am telling you categorically that boli is a mystery you can not unravel without a personal encounter.
If you are planning to visit Nigeria in the nearest future, make sure you do not leave without the anointing of boli.
For residents of Nigeria, this story is not unfamiliar as we savour it every now and then.
Friends,if you have tasted an unforgettable boli at any point in time or it saved your life sometime ago, please share with us.
Thanks for reading. Be sure to eat boli this week.*wink. XOXO.
